The trek to Everest Base Camp involves ascending and descending glacier paths and navigating rough terrains. Departing from Gorak Shep, the trail progresses onto the moraines of the Khumbu Glacier, at times indistinct and winding through piles of rubble. Upon reaching the base camp, the mesmerizing melt patterns and gracefully rounded ice towers on the upper Khumbu glacier captivate our attention. The Everest Base Camp itself is exceptionally picturesque, offering incredible views of the Nuptse, Khumbutse, and Pumori mountains. The experience is enhanced by the stunning nighttime sky, allowing us to gaze at the stars while resting at the Everest Base Camp.

Hiking: 2-3 hrs

Maximum Altitude: 5,364m/17,599ft

Overnight in Camping [B/L/D]

During the next two days at the Everest Base Camp, the focus will be on proper acclimatization to the high altitude and making essential preparations for the upcoming Everest summit expedition, which spans a little over six weeks. This crucial acclimatization period involves allowing the body to adapt gradually to the high-altitude environment, reducing the risk of altitude-related illnesses. Additionally, climbers will take the opportunity to clean and reorganize their equipment and personal gear, ensuring everything is in optimal condition for the challenging ascent to the summit of Mt. Everest.

Maximum Altitude: 5,364m/17,599ft

Overnight in Camping [B/L/D]

On this day, the ascent begins with a glacier walk, reaching approximately halfway into the Khumbu Icefall. The climb takes us to an altitude of 5,500 meters, involving the crossing of a few ladders to navigate the challenging terrain and mitigate the significant risks associated with climbing in the Khumbu Icefall. Following this ascent, we returned to the Everest Base Camp to rest and prepare for the subsequent phases of the expedition.

The following day, our journey continues as we navigate the challenging Khumbu Icefall, making our way to Camp 1. At Camp 1, we set up our tents, prepared meals, and made necessary arrangements for an overnight stay on the mountain. Typically, we spend around two nights at Camp 1, acclimatizing to the high altitude before progressing to Camp 2. Positioned on a flat expanse of endless snow amid deep crevasses and mountain walls atop the Khumbu Icefall, Camp 1 offers both the warmth of the sun's reflection during the day and the eerie sounds of crevasses below during the night.

After spending a few days at Camp 1, our ascent continues as we make our way to Camp 2. Rising early, we are treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain landscapes as we slowly climb higher. Upon reaching Camp 2, our support team sets up tents and prepares meals. We spent several nights at Camp 2, acclimatizing to the altitude before proceeding further. Camp 2 is strategically located at the base of the icy Lhotse wall, nestled in a lateral moraine at the lower section of the west ridge. While the weather at Camp 2 is generally favorable, occasional black clouds from the low Himalayan valleys may drift in. Despite this, Camp 2 provides a safe and sheltered environment with stunning views of Lhotse. Many expedition organizers establish their primary climbing camp at Camp 2, making it a crucial site for acclimatization and preparation for the ascent to Camp 3.

Having spent several nights at Camp 2 and successfully acclimatized, our journey to higher altitudes continues as we ascend to Camp 3. This camp is strategically positioned on a small ledge along the slopes of Mt. Lhotse, specifically on the Lhotse wall. To reach Camp 3, we traverse a glacier to the right side and begin our ascent on the compact snowfield. While the climb to Camp 3 is long, it follows a relatively safe route with a few short ice cliffs that have been secured with ropes by our climbing Sherpas. Upon reaching Camp 3, we will spend additional nights for further acclimatization and preparation for the upcoming ascent to even higher altitudes in the days to come.

After spending several nights at Camp 3 for acclimatization, our ascent continues towards the highest point on Earth – the summit of Mount Everest. We proceed to Camp 4, situated at the South Col, marking the final camp on our Everest expedition. The journey to Camp 4 involves navigating two challenging rock sections – Yellow Band and Geneva Spur, both equipped with fixed ropes by our skilled climbing Sherpas. Yellow Band comprises inter-layers of marble, phyllite, and semi-schist rocks, while Geneva Spur is an anvil-shaped rib of black rocks. With only 500 meters remaining to reach the summit, we spent additional nights at Camp 4 to prepare for the final push.

The summit bid is the most challenging part of the climb, marked by violent winds and perilous conditions. Opting for the narrow Southeast ridge, we embark on a 9 to 13-hour journey that includes passing through significant points like the Balcony, Hillary Step, and the South Summit before reaching the central pinnacle. The entire route to the top is secured with fixed ropes, and the path to the true summit involves navigating a moderate snow slope. This route echoes the one taken by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa during their historic ascent in 1953. Standing atop the world fills us with unparalleled joy and pride. Our descent back to the base camp is now in focus, ensuring a safe return from this extraordinary achievement.

Maximum Altitude: 8,848m/29,030ft

Overnight in Camping [B/L/D]

After having breakfast at the base camp, we commence our descent back to Dingboche, retracing our steps through Lobuche on the familiar trail of the earlier stages of the expedition. Once in Dingboche, we prioritize getting sufficient rest and retiring early to ensure we are well-rested for the upcoming trekking days.

Hiking: 4-5 hrs

Maximum Altitude: 4,360m/14,305ft

Overnight in Simple Lodge [B/L/D]

The return trek from Dingboche to Tengboche retraces our steps along the familiar route. We start by descending to the Lobuche River and then proceed past the Imja Valley. Our journey takes us to Pangboche via the upper trail, followed by an uphill walk leading to Deboche. Crossing the Imja River and passing through a forest of birch, conifer, and rhododendrons, we finally arrive at Tengboche, where we halt for the night.

Hiking: 4-5 hrs

Maximum Altitude: 3,870m/12,697ft

Overnight in Simple Lodge [B/L/D]

Following breakfast, our descent toward Namche Bazaar begins. The trail primarily descends until we reach Phunki, after which it becomes relatively easy. In a short period, we will arrive at Namche Bazaar, where we check in to our hotel, providing us with the opportunity to relax for the remainder of the day.

Hiking: 5-6 hrs

Maximum Altitude: 3,438m/11,280ft

Overnight in Simple Lodge [B/L/D]

Descending the trail, we navigate steep slopes with caution, as the rocky terrain challenges our weary legs. Crossing multiple suspension bridges over the swift Dudh Koshi River and its tributaries, the path gradually levels out. Upon reaching Lukla, we take a moment to stretch our sore legs, reflecting on the experiences of the past few weeks in the Himalayas.

Hiking: 6-7 hrs

Maximum Altitude: 2,800m/9,187ft
