On arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, a representative from Journey DMC will pick us up. Then Head to your hotel and complete the check-in process.

On our second day, start your day with breakfast at the hotel then we will explore Swayambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and Patan Durbar Square.

Begin your sightseeing tour by visiting Swayambhunath Stupa, a prominent Buddhist site perched atop a hill west of Kathmandu. After Swayambhunath, head to Kathmandu Durbar Square, located in the heart of the city. You can savor traditional Nepali cuisine or try international dishes.

Swayambhunath: Swayambhunath Stupa is also known as the Monkey Temple. It is one of the oldest and most significant religious sites in Nepal, attracting both Buddhist pilgrims and tourists. At the heart of Swayambhunath is a large white dome-shaped stupa with eyes painted on all four sides. The stupa is surrounded by numerous smaller shrines, temples, and monastic complexes. Swayambhunath is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the heart of Kathmandu. Kathmandu Durbar Square holds great historical, cultural, and architectural significance. The square is surrounded by a collection of palaces, temples, courtyards, and other historical buildings, reflecting the rich artistic and architectural traditions of the Newar people. Some of the notable structures within Kathmandu Durbar Square include Hanuman Dhoka Palace, Kumari Ghar, Taleju Temple, and Kal Bhairav Temple which serves as a window into Nepal's rich history and cultural traditions.

Patan Durbar Square: Patan Durbar Square is also known as Lalitpur Durbar Square which is another UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the city of Lalitpur. The square is renowned for its remarkable collection of palaces, temples, courtyards, and statues that reflect Newar architectural and artistic traditions. Some of the notable attractions within Patan Durbar Square include Krishna Mandir, Patan Museum, Golden Temple, Bhimsen Temple, and Sundari Chowk. These are just a few examples of the many temples, palaces, and courtyards within Patan Durbar Square.

On the third day of the Everest View Trek, you will start by taking a thrilling 30-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. The flight itself is an adventure, as you soar over picturesque landscapes and get a glimpse of the majestic Himalayas. Upon landing in Lukla, you will begin your trek towards Phakding. The trail initially descends through rhododendrons and pine forests, following the Dudh Koshi River. The trek to Phakding usually takes around 3 to 4 hours, covering a distance of approximately 9 kilometers. Phakding is situated at an altitude of 2,651 meters and offers a comfortable resting place for trekkers. Here, you can enjoy the serene atmosphere and stunning mountain views, preparing yourself for the days ahead.

On the fourth day of the Everest View Trek, you will continue your trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar, a vibrant and bustling town located at an altitude of approximately 3,440 meters. This day involves a moderate but rewarding hike through the beautiful landscapes of the Khumbu region. The trail from Phakding to Namche Bazaar follows the banks of the Dudh Koshi River, crossing several suspension bridges along the way. As you trek, you will be surrounded by lush green forests, with occasional glimpses of the towering peaks in the distance. The trail gradually ascends, and you may experience some uphill sections that challenge your stamina. However, the effort is well worth it as you enter the Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its rich biodiversity and stunning mountain vistas. After several hours of trekking, you will reach Namche Bazaar, the commercial and cultural hub of the Everest region. Namche Bazaar is a vibrant town filled with shops, cafes, lodges, and trekking gear stores. It is an ideal place to acclimatize, as you will spend two nights here to adjust to the altitude.

On the fifth day of the Everest View Trek, you will take a well-deserved acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar. Acclimatization is crucial to allow your body to adjust to the high altitude and reduce the risk of altitude sickness. You can explore Namche Bazaar and its surroundings as the town offers various attractions and activities to make your acclimatization day enjoyable and fulfilling.

You can start by visiting the Sherpa Museum, which provides insights into the local Sherpa culture, their mountaineering history, and the flora and fauna of the Everest region. It's a great opportunity to deepen your understanding of the region and its people. You may also choose to hike to the nearby villages of Khumjung or Khunde. These villages provide a glimpse into the traditional Sherpa way of life and offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains. In Khumjung, you can visit the famous Khumjung School, established by Sir Edmund Hillary, which supports the education of Sherpa children. Another option is to hike up to the Everest View Hotel, which is renowned for its panoramic views of Everest, Ama Dablam, and other Himalayan peaks. It's a perfect spot to capture breathtaking photos and soak in the majestic scenery.

Throughout the day, make sure to hydrate well and take it easy to allow your body to acclimatize properly. It's also a good opportunity to rest and relax before continuing the trek.

Overnight in Simple Lodge [B]

On day six, you will be travelling from Namche Bazaar to Dole as part of your journey. After breakfast in Namche Bazaar, ensure you have everything you need for the day's trek to Dole. Begin your hike by following the trail that leads out of Namche Bazaar. The path gradually ascends as you leave the bustling town behind and enter a quieter and more remote landscape. Enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys as you make your way up. Along the trail, you may come across small villages or tea houses where you can take a break, rest, and refuel. Keep a steady pace and enjoy the peacefulness of the trail. As you reach higher altitudes, the air may become thinner, so listen to your body and take breaks as needed. Dole is a small village known for its tranquil environment and stunning mountain views. Take the rest of the day to relax, acclimatize, and explore the immediate surroundings of Dole. Enjoy the tranquillity of the village and the beauty of the mountains.

Hiking: 7-8 hrs.

On day seven, you will continue your trek from Dole to Machhermo. Begin your day with a nutritious breakfast in Dole, ensuring you are prepared for the day's hike. Set off from Dole and follow the trail towards Machhermo. The distance between the two villages is approximately 8 kilometers (5 miles), and the trek is relatively moderate in difficulty. As you ascend, you'll pass through beautiful alpine landscapes, with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Take your time to enjoy the natural beauty and snap photos along the way. As you approach Machhermo, you'll notice the peaceful atmosphere of the village, nestled amidst the mountains. Take in the serene surroundings and appreciate the remoteness of the area. Once you arrive in Machhermo, find suitable accommodation for your stay. Machhermo is a small village with tea houses and lodges that cater to trekkers, offering a cozy and comfortable environment. Take the opportunity to rest and rejuvenate, as Machhermo serves as a vital acclimatization point before ascending further into higher altitudes.

On day eight, you will continue your trek from Machhermo to Gokyo. Start your day with a hearty breakfast in Machhermo, preparing yourself for the exciting journey ahead. Begin your trek from Machhermo, following the well-marked trail towards Gokyo. The distance between the two villages is approximately 7 kilometers (4.3 miles). As you ascend, you'll continue to enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks and the stunning landscapes of the Everest region. Take your time to appreciate the natural beauty and capture memorable photos along the way. As you approach Gokyo, you'll catch sight of the pristine Gokyo Lakes, a series of turquoise glacial lakes that are a major highlight of the area. Upon reaching Gokyo, find suitable accommodation for your stay. Gokyo is a village situated at an altitude of around 4,800 meters (15,750 feet), offering breathtaking views and a peaceful atmosphere.

On day nine, you will have an exciting day exploring the Gokyo Valley. This itinerary includes climbing Gokyo RI, a viewpoint offering panoramic views, and hiking to the fourth and fifth lakes. Start your day early to make the most of the day's activities. Have a nourishing breakfast to fuel yourself for the adventures ahead. Begin by climbing Gokyo RI, a popular viewpoint in the Gokyo Valley. The ascent is challenging but rewarding. The trail gradually ascends, and the climb may take a few hours, depending on your pace. As you climb, enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, including Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, and Makalu. Once you reach the top of Gokyo RI, take in the awe-inspiring panoramic vista of the Himalayas. Capture the picturesque landscape and cherish the moment. Descend from Gokyo Ri and head towards the fourth lake of the Gokyo Valley. The trail will lead you through scenic landscapes, passing by glacial moraines and pristine alpine lakes. The fourth lake is known for its tranquil beauty, surrounded by snowy peaks and offering an opportunity for reflection and relaxation.

After exploring the lakes, make your way back to Gokyo. Take breaks as needed and enjoy the picturesque surroundings. Upon returning to Gokyo, spend the rest of the day resting and recuperating. Reflect on your incredible experiences and the beauty you witnessed in the Gokyo Valley.

Start your day with a wholesome breakfast in Gokyo, preparing yourself for the trek to Dole. Bid farewell to the captivating Gokyo Valley as you begin your descent towards Dole. The distance between Gokyo and Dole is approximately 14 kilometers (8.7 miles). Pass by the Gokyo Lakes once again, relishing their serene beauty. Take a moment to appreciate the turquoise waters and the reflection of the mountains on their surface. As you descend, you may encounter fellow trekkers on their way up towards Gokyo. Interact with them and share experiences, exchanging stories of your respective journeys. Dole is a small village situated at an altitude of approximately 4,040 meters (13,250 feet), offering a peaceful and tranquil setting. Take the rest of the day to relax and unwind in Dole. Reflect on your trekking experiences, and appreciate the natural beauty and serenity of the village.

On day eleven, you will be trekking from Dole back to Namche BazaarBegin your day with a nourishing breakfast in Dole, preparing yourself for the trek back to Namche Bazaar. Bid farewell to the serene surroundings of Dole as you start your descent towards Namche Bazaar. Follow the well-marked trail, retracing your steps through the beautiful landscapes of the Everest region. As you descend, take in the breathtaking views of the mountains and enjoy the changing scenery. As you approach Namche Bazaar, the trail may become busier with trekkers and locals. Embrace the lively atmosphere and the vibrant energy of this bustling mountain town. Upon reaching Namche Bazaar, find suitable accommodation for the night. Take a moment to relax and appreciate the comforts of the town after days of trekking. Use the rest of the day to explore Namche Bazaar. You can visit local shops, cafes, or the bustling market, where you can find souvenirs or interact with the local Sherpa community.

On the twelfth day of the Everest Base Camp Short Trek, you will trek from Namche Bazaar back to Lukla, the starting point of your trek. The trail from Namche Bazaar to Lukla retraces the path you took on your way up. As you make your way down, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful landscapes and panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Upon reaching Lukla, you can celebrate the successful completion of your trek with a sense of accomplishment. Lukla is a lively mountain town and a gateway to the Everest region. It is here that you'll spend your final night in the Khumbu region. In the evening, you can explore the streets of Lukla, interact with fellow trekkers, and perhaps share stories and memories from your trekking adventure.

Hiking: 6-7 hrs.

Travel Distance: 19 km

On the thirteenth day of the Everest Base Camp Short Trek, you will take a scenic flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu, marking the final day of your trekking adventure in the Everest region. In the morning, you'll check out from your lodge in Lukla and head to the Lukla Airport. There, you'll board a small aircraft for a thrilling flight back to Kathmandu. As you soar through the mountainous terrain, you can take in the spectacular views of the Himalayas one last time. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you'll be transferred to your hotel in the city. This allows you to relax, reflect on your trekking journey, and enjoy the comforts of Kathmandu. In the remaining time of the day, you can explore the vibrant streets of Kathmandu, visit local markets, and indulge in the rich cultural heritage of the city.

On the last day, it's time for your final departure from Kathmandu. The last day morning will be free and near the time of your flight. You will be at the airport within the time to board your flight for the onward trip.

Ø  The Gokyo Lake and Gokyo Ri Trek is a trekking journey that takes you to the stunning Gokyo Valley in the Everest region of Nepal. It includes hikes to Gokyo Ri and visits to pristine high-altitude lakes.

 

Ø  The best times for this trek are the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) for clear skies, pleasant weather, and great mountain views.

Ø  This trek is moderately challenging and may not be suitable for absolute beginners. Some prior trekking experience and good physical fitness are recommended.

Ø  While it's not mandatory to have a guide, having one is recommended for navigation, safety, and insights into the region's culture and environment.

Ø  You will need the Sagarmatha National Park Permit and the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit. These permits can be obtained in Kathmandu or Lukla.

Ø  You should have a good level of physical fitness as the trek involves long days of walking and steep ascents. Cardiovascular training and leg strength are beneficial.
