Your Tibetan journey begins as you arrive in Lhasa, where you'll be warmly greeted by your guide at Lhasa Gonggar Airport or Lhasa Railway Station. The drive from Lhasa Airport to downtown Lhasa typically takes about 1.5 hours, while the journey from Lhasa Railway Station is a shorter 20-minute ride. Along the way, you'll catch sight of the Yarlung Tsangpo River, Tibet's largest and longest river.

Upon checking in at your hotel, it's advisable to rest and acclimate to the high altitude. If you're up for a short outing, you can explore the city, but remember to take it easy, stay hydrated, and avoid strenuous activities to adjust comfortably to the elevated terrain. Acclimatization is essential for an enjoyable stay in Tibet.

Your second day in Tibet begins with your guide meeting you at your hotel. In the morning, you'll visit the iconic Potala Palace, a remarkable example of Tibetan architecture and the foremost landmark of Tibet. Originally built by the 33rd King, Songtsen Gangpo, in the 7th century, it was reconstructed by the 5th Dalai Lama in the 17th century. Today, it serves as a museum and a UNESCO World Heritage site, preserving the rich history and culture of Tibet.

In the afternoon, your exploration continues with a visit to the revered Jokhang Temple, located in the heart of Lhasa's old town. This sacred temple has drawn devoted local pilgrims for centuries. After your temple visit, you'll take a leisurely walk along Barkhor Street, a devotional circuit and bustling central market surrounding the Jokhang Temple. This ancient circular street is a source of pride for locals and is considered a symbol of Lhasa, making it a must-see destination for all visitors.

Your third day in Tibet begins with a morning visit to Norbulingka. Norbulingka Park is considered the primary horticultural park in Tibet and offers a unique cultural setting. During the summer and autumn months, it transforms into a hub of entertainment, featuring dancing, singing, music, and festive activities. Notably, it is the site of the annual Sho Dun or 'Yoghurt Festival,' a cherished cultural event.

In the afternoon, your journey takes you to Drepung Monastery, which translates to the "Monastery of Rice Heap" in Tibetan. This vast monastery complex is known for its striking white buildings that cluster and cover the hillsides, resembling enormous piles of rice from a distance. This visual similarity has lent it the name "Drepung." Drepung Monastery is not only the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery but also holds the highest rank within the Gelug Sect.

On your final day in Tibet, your tour guide will arrange your departure and transfer you from your hotel to Gonggar Airport. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, Nepal, you will be warmly welcomed by a local guide and driver at Tribhuvan International Airport.

If your arrival in Kathmandu is early in the day, you'll have the opportunity to explore the historic Kathmandu Durbar Square. This square showcases classical Nepalese architecture dating back to the 16th to 19th centuries, offering a glimpse into the rich cultural and architectural heritage of the region. It's a great way to start your adventures in Nepal.

Your exploration of Kathmandu, guided by our experienced Nepali tour guide, begins with a visit to Swyambhunath Stupa, affectionately known as the "Monkey Temple." This ancient stupa has a history spanning over 2,000 years, predating the city of Kathmandu itself. It holds the honour of being one of Nepal's World Cultural Heritage sites. The stupa is surrounded by a lively community of wild monkeys, which has earned it its playful moniker. The painted eyes of Buddha on all four sides of the stupa symbolize Buddha's watchful gaze, making this site deeply sacred and a magnet for pilgrims from both near and far.

Your journey continues with a visit to Boudhanath Stupa, the largest stupa in Nepal and the world. Situated to the east of Kathmandu, it carries particular significance in Tibetan Buddhism due to its location along the primary trade route between Nepal and Tibet. Each morning, this area comes alive with Tibetan Buddhists engaging in the kora, a form of pilgrimage, creating a visually striking and spiritually important scene.

Your final destination is the Pashupatinath Temple, Nepal's largest Hindu temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, the god of destruction. "Pashu" translates to "all living creatures," and "Patinath" means "the lord." This temple is also known as the "corpse cremation temple," where Hindu devotees perform public cremations, emphasizing the fundamental Hindu concepts of life and death. Your day of exploration will provide you with profound insights into the diverse religious and cultural traditions of Nepal.
