After breakfast visit Kathmandu, a city in Nepal. Established in the 14th century under the Malla Dynasty, Kathmandu's cultural legacy thrived with the support of the nobility. Newar artisans crafted intricate temples, monasteries, and courtyards, creating a captivating architectural history. The Durbar Square, adorned with the Golden Roofed Taleju Temple, is a testament to this rich heritage. King Mahendra Mala restored the temple in 1562. The Hanuman Dhoka Durbar, the old Royal Palace, welcomes visitors with a statue of Hanuman, the monkey god, adorned in a red cloak and singer-covered face. The House of the Living Goddess, where the Kumari, a virgin goddess, may be seen from an upper-floor window, offers a unique experience. Exploring the bustling bazaars and winding streets of the Old Town completes the adventure.
Visit Swayambhunath Stupa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site is the oldest shrine in the world, established more than 2500 years ago and is located on a 3km hill in the western outskirts of Kathmandu, it is one of the most important and sacred Buddhist temples in Nepal. Legend has it that when the Kathmandu Valley was a lake 2,000 years ago, he had one lotus flower growing in the middle of the lake. When the Bodhisattva Manjushree drained the lake with a stroke of his sword, the lotus settled on a hill and magically turned into a stupa. That is why Swayambhunath is also known as a self-made stupa. This stupa is the oldest and perhaps the most enigmatic of all the sacred sites in Kathmandu. Swayambhunath offers stunning views of the Kathmandu Valley. The benevolent eyes of Buddha are painted on all four sides of this ancient structure. The mysterious third eye between them symbolizes true wisdom.
In the afternoon, we will journey to Bhaktapur Durbar Square, an ancient royal capital dating back to the 9th century. This fortified city, nestled in the Kathmandu Valley, is a treasure trove of medieval art and architecture. Strolling along its cobblestone streets, you'll be captivated by the ancient structures and the vibrant ambiance of today's bustling town square. Bhaktapur Durbar Square is an exceptional UNESCO World Heritage Site that serves as a testament to the illustrious era of the Malla dynasty, during which art and architecture thrived in the three cities of the valley.
While at Bhaktapur Durbar Square, you'll have the opportunity to visit the Nyatapola Temple, a remarkable structure with "five stories" that dominates the cityscape as a prominent landmark. This temple is dedicated to Bhairav, the god of fear, and it is renowned for its artistic grandeur. Adjacent to it stands the famous five-story Nyatapola Temple.
The entrance to the palace, marked by the Golden Gate, is adorned with 55 intricately carved windows from the 15th century. This Golden Gate is a masterpiece of artistic craftsmanship that adds to the grandeur of the Palace Square, where the buildings date from the 13th to the 18th century.
