Tihar

Tihar, also known as Deepawali or Yamapanchak, is another major Hindu festival celebrated over five days in Nepal and the Indian state of Sikkim. It typically falls between late October and early November, following Dashain. Tihar is often called the "Festival of Lights" due to the widespread use of oil lamps, candles, and colorful decorations during the celebrations. The festival includes various rituals, such as Kag Tihar (Crow Tihar), Kukur Tihar (Dog Tihar), Gai Tihar (Cow Tihar), Laxmi Puja, Goru Tihar (Ox Tihar), Govardhan Puja, and Bhai Tika. Traditional and cultural performances, including singing, dancing, and playing traditional musical instruments, are integral to Tihar.
