Krishna Janmaashtami

Krishna Ashtami, also known as Krishna Janmashtami or simply Janmashtami, is one of the most significant Hindu festivals commemorating Lord Krishna, considered the eighth avatar (incarnation) of Lord Vishnu. This festival marks Lord Krishna's birth and is celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm by Hindus, particularly in India and Nepal. Krishna Ashtami generally occurs on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the dark fortnight of the Hindu month of Bhadrapada, typically falling in August or September. Since Lord Krishna is believed to have been born at midnight, elaborate celebrations often take place during the night. Many devotees observe fasts on this day and stay awake until midnight, which is the purported time of Lord Krishna's birth. They sing devotional songs, read Krishna's life stories, and engage in prayer and meditation.
