Kurjey Tshechu

Kurjey Tshechu is another renowned religious festival celebrated in Bhutan. It occurs annually at the Kurjey Lhakhang, a sacred temple complex situated in Bumthang District. Typically, the festival takes place in October, although the exact dates may vary from year to year. The Kurjey Lhakhang holds immense religious significance in Bhutan and is closely associated with Guru Rinpoche, also known as Padmasambhava. Inside the temple complex, you can find three main temples, with one of them containing the body imprints of Guru Rinpoche. Kurjey Tshechu is celebrated to honour Guru Rinpoche and commemorate his visit to Bhutan.
