Jana Baha Dyah Jatra
Janabaha Dyah Jatra, also known as Seto Machhindranath Jatra, is a significant festival celebrated by the Newar Community in Nepal. It is dedicated to the deity Seto Macchindranath, who is also known as Janabaha Dyah or Aryavalokitesvara. This festival is held to invoke blessings for good harvests, prosperity, and the well-being of the community. During the festival, a grand procession known as the “Jatra” takes place, where the idol of Seto Machhindranath is carried through the streets of Kathmandu Valley on a Rath (Towering Chariot). This festival serves as a symbol of unity, devotion, and community spirit, bringing together people from all walks of life to celebrate their faith and cultural identity.
