Hadigaun Jatra

Hadigaun Jatra, also known as Narayan Jatra, is a significant festival celebrated by the Newar community in the village of Hadigaun, situated within the city of Kathmandu, Nepal. This traditional festival pays homage to Lord Vishnu and has been preserved and promoted by the residents of Hadigaun for centuries. The Newar community, known for its rich cultural heritage and traditional festivals, primarily celebrates Hadigaun Jatra in honor of Lord Vishnu, a principal deity in Hinduism associated with preserving the universe. The festival occurs in either September or October, coinciding with the festive month in Nepal, and holds particular significance as it takes place on the final night of Dashain, one of Nepal's most prominent and widely celebrated festivals.
