Christmas

Christmas is celebrated every year on 25th December to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. Although Christians make up a small percentage of Nepal's population, Christmas has become a widely recognized festival, especially in cities such as Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Lalitpur. Churches are beautifully decorated with lights, Christmas trees, nativity scenes, and festive ornaments, while special prayer services, carol singing, and midnight masses are held to mark the occasion. In recent years, Christmas has also become a popular cultural celebration enjoyed by people of different faiths. Popular tourist areas such as Thamel in Kathmandu and Lakeside in Pokhara are adorned with colorful decorations, illuminated streets, and festive displays. Hotels, restaurants, cafés, and shopping centers organize Christmas-themed events, live music, special dinners, and holiday promotions, creating a joyful atmosphere for both locals and international visitors.
