Upon landing at Tribhuwan International Airport, complete the immigration and customs procedures. Then Head to your hotel and complete the check-in process.

On our second day, start your day with breakfast at the hotel then we will explore Swayambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and Patan Durbar Square.

Begin your sightseeing tour by visiting Swayambhunath Stupa, a prominent Buddhist site perched atop a hill west of Kathmandu. After Swayambhunath, head to Kathmandu Durbar Square, located in the heart of the city. You can savor traditional Nepali cuisine or try international dishes.

Swayambhunath: Swayambhunath Stupa is also known as the Monkey Temple. It is one of the oldest and most significant religious sites in Nepal, attracting both Buddhist pilgrims and tourists. At the heart of Swayambhunath is a large white dome-shaped stupa with eyes painted on all four sides. The stupa is surrounded by numerous smaller shrines, temples, and monastic complexes. Swayambhunath is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the heart of Kathmandu. Kathmandu Durbar Square holds great historical, cultural, and architectural significance. The square is surrounded by a collection of palaces, temples, courtyards, and other historical buildings, reflecting the rich artistic and architectural traditions of the Newar people. Some of the notable structures within Kathmandu Durbar Square include Hanuman Dhoka Palace, Kumari Ghar, Taleju Temple, and Kal Bhairav Temple which serves as a window into Nepal's rich history and cultural traditions.

Patan Durbar Square: Patan Durbar Square is also known as Lalitpur Durbar Square which is another UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the city of Lalitpur. The square is renowned for its remarkable collection of palaces, temples, courtyards, and statues that reflect Newar architectural and artistic traditions. Some of the notable attractions within Patan Durbar Square include Krishna Mandir, Patan Museum, Golden Temple, Bhimsen Temple, and Sundari Chowk. These are just a few examples of the many temples, palaces, and courtyards within Patan Durbar Square.

Overnight at Hotel [B]

On Day 03 of your itinerary, you plan to fly from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur and then drive to Taplejung. The flight duration is approximately 45 min. Once you arrive at Bhadrapur Airport, you'll need to take a drive to Taplejung. The distance between Bhadrapur and Taplejung is around 180 kilometers (112 miles), and the journey usually takes around 6-7 hours by road, depending on the road conditions. The road from Bhadrapur to Taplejung is generally a mountainous and hilly terrain with winding roads. Some sections of the road may be rough and unpaved, especially as you approach Taplejung. The drive from Bhadrapur to Taplejung offers breathtaking views of the mountains, lush green valleys, and rural landscapes. Be prepared to witness the natural beauty of the region during your journey. Taplejung is a district located in the eastern part of Nepal and serves as a gateway to the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area. On Day 10 of your Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek, you plan to stay in Cheram for acclimatization and rest. Acclimatization is crucial during high-altitude treks like the Kanchenjunga Circuit. Cheram is an ideal location for acclimatization as it allows your body to adjust to the altitude and reduce the risk of altitude-related illnesses. It's recommended to spend an additional day here to aid in proper acclimatization. Your body needs time to recuperate and adjust to the altitude. Take the opportunity to relax, enjoy the surrounding natural beauty, and allow your muscles to rejuvenate. While acclimatizing and resting, you can explore the vicinity of Cheram. There are several scenic spots nearby, such as the Oktang Glacier and the Yalung Glacier. These areas offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers. However, be cautious not to overexert yourself and maintain a moderate level of activity. Proper hydration and nutrition are essential during acclimatization.

The trail from Cheram to Ramchaur is well-defined and primarily consists of uphill sections. It takes you through alpine meadows and offers breathtaking views of the Kanchenjunga range. The hike to Yalung Base Camp usually takes around 3-4 hours, so the round trip from Ramchaur to Yalung Base Camp and back to Cheram can be completed in approximately 7-8 hours. The trail from Ramchaur (Ramche) to Yalung Base Camp is a challenging and strenuous hike. It involves a significant ascent and includes rocky and uneven terrain. On Day 23 of your trek, you plan to travel from Taplejung to Bhadrapur. To travel from Taplejung to Bhadrapur, the most common mode of transportation is by road. The duration of the journey can vary depending on road conditions and traffic, but it usually takes around 7-9 hours. The road from Taplejung to Bhadrapur is a mix of paved and unpaved sections. While some parts of the road may be smooth, other sections may be bumpy and rough. It's advisable to be prepared for a potentially adventurous ride and to bring motion sickness medication if needed. The journey from Taplejung to Bhadrapur offers scenic views of the surrounding landscapes, hills, and valleys. Bhadrapur is located in the Jhapa District of Nepal. It serves as a gateway to the eastern part of Nepal and is close to the Indian border. Bhadrapur has accommodation options, restaurants, and other amenities for travelers.

On Day 24 of your journey, you plan to fly from Bhadrapur to Kathmandu. Bhadrapur Airport is located in Bhadrapur, a town in the Jhapa District of Nepal. It is a domestic airport serving flights to and from Kathmandu. The flight from Bhadrapur to Kathmandu typically takes around 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on weather conditions and airline schedules. After your flight lands at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport, you can proceed through the immigration and customs procedures. Retrieve your baggage and make your way to the exit to find transportation to your accommodation in Kathmandu.

It’s time for your final departure from Kathmandu. The last day morning will be free and near the time of your flight. You will be at the airport within the time to board your flight for the onward trip.

Ø  The Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek is an adventurous trek that circumnavigates Mount Kanchenjunga, the third-highest mountain in the world, located on the border between Nepal and the Indian state of Sikkim.

Ø  The best times for this trek are during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) when the weather is pleasant, and the skies are clear.

Ø  This trek is highly challenging and not recommended for beginners. Prior high-altitude trekking experience, physical fitness, and acclimatization are crucial.

Ø  A guide is highly recommended for safety, navigation, and cultural insights. Restricted area permits for Kanchenjunga require trekkers to be in a group with a registered guide.

Ø  You will need a Kanchenjunga Conservation Area Permit and a Restricted Area Permit. These can be obtained in Kathmandu.

Ø  A high level of physical fitness is necessary due to the long trekking days, high altitudes, steep ascents, and challenging terrain. Cardiovascular training and strength are essential.

Ø  Essentials include warm clothing, a good pair of hiking boots, a rain jacket, a daypack, a sleeping bag suitable for cold weather, and a trekking pole.

Ø  Highlights include the remote and pristine nature of the Kanchenjunga region, the unique culture of the local communities, ancient monasteries, and stunning mountain views.

Ø  Some customization is possible. You can extend your stay in specific regions, add side trips, or explore nearby attractions. Discuss these options with your trekking agency.

Ø  Altitude sickness is a concern, especially when trekking to high altitudes in a remote area. Proper acclimatization, hydration, and monitoring are crucial to minimize the risk.

Ø  Teahouses and lodges are available along the route, providing basic but comfortable accommodations and meals. Facilities may be more limited in the remote areas.

Ø  It's best to book through a reputable trekking agency before your trip. They can assist with permits, accommodations, and logistics for this unique and remote journey.

 

Ø  The Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek reaches its highest point at the Lhonak Pass (5,160 meters or 16,929 feet), providing breathtaking panoramic views of the Kanchenjunga massif.

Ø  While it's possible to trek independently, having a guide and porter is highly recommended for safety, as well as to navigate the complex permit requirements and logistics.

Ø  Yes, there are side trips and alternative routes you can explore in the Kanchenjunga region. Some trekkers choose to do the Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek, which is a shorter trek focused on reaching the base camp of the mountain. Additionally, you can visit the Oktang and Ramtang Monastery as side trips.
