Ura Yakchoe

Ura Yakchoe is a renowned religious festival celebrated in the Ura Valley of the Bumthang district in Bhutan. This annual festival honours a sacred relic, a statue of Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava), the revered Indian Buddhist saint who introduced Buddhism to Bhutan. The festival's highlight is the unveiling of the sacred relic, which occurs once a year and is believed to bring blessings and good fortune to witnesses. The relic is carefully preserved in a small temple in the Ura Valley, and during the festival, it is displayed to the public for a limited time.
