Indra Jatra
Indra Jatra, also known as Yenya in Naepal Bhasa, is a vibrant festival celebrated in Nepal, especially in the Kathmandu Valley. It honors Indra, the Hindu god of rain and King of heaven. The festival includes masked dances, processions, and the erection of tall wooden poles known as “Yosin” or “Lingo”. It’s a colorful and lively event that blends religious traditions with cultural celebrations. It usually falls in late August or early September and lasts for eight days.
