After reaching Lhasa, it is recommended to take some time to rest and acclimatize to the high altitude, considering the city's elevation. If you're feeling up to it, you can explore the nearby Potala Square. Here, you can admire the colorful fountain and capture breathtaking photographs of the iconic Potala Palace and its surrounding area, making for a memorable start to your visit to Lhasa, Tibet.

Your day's tour in Lhasa starts with a visit to the magnificent Potala Palace, the winter residence of the Dalai Lama. This historic tower has a legacy dating back to the 7th century when it was first utilized by the 33rd great king of Tibet. The Potala Palace boasts invaluable treasures, including the gilded burial stupas of former Dalai Lamas and the meditation Cave of the 33rd great king of Tibet.
Following a satisfying lunch, your next stop is the Jokhang Temple, also founded by the 33rd great king of Tibet in the 7th century. Inside the temple, you'll encounter the statue of Buddha Sakyamuni at the age of twelve. Outside, you can witness pilgrims paying their respects with prostrations before the Jokhang Temple. The temple is enveloped by Barkhor Street, where you can join pilgrims and locals in performing the kora, a sacred circumambulation ritual, and explore the bustling old market.

Your morning excursion will take you to the charming Dadong Village, renowned as one of the most picturesque villages in Lhasa. Situated 25 kilometers southwest of Lhasa's city center, Dadong Village is a well-preserved ancient Tibetan village nestled amidst scenic valleys. Upon arrival, your visit will include exploring the Nyimatang Monastery, a sacred site dating back to the 11th century. You'll also have the opportunity to take a stroll through the village, gaining insight into the serene rural life in Lhasa. As part of this immersive experience, you'll pay a visit to a local Tibetan family and savor a lunch provided by them.
In the afternoon, your journey continues with a visit to the Sera Monastery, one of the 'great three' Gelug monasteries in Tibet. A highlight of the visit is the Monks' debate, which typically takes place between 3-5 in the afternoon. Additionally, you'll have the chance to explore the Tibetan religious scripture printing house. Within the monastery, you can admire three intricate sand Mandalas and the vibrant Rock Painting of Buddha. This day provides a well-rounded glimpse into the serene countryside and the vibrant monastic life of Lhasa.
