Ama Dablam Expedition 29 Night 30 Days
Ama Dablam Expedition 29 Night 30 Days
The Ama Dablam Expedition is an extraordinary journey to conquer one of the most striking peaks in the Himalayas, often referred to as the 'Matterhorn of the Himalayas.' Ama Dablam's ice-coated granite pyramid soars dramatically into the sky along the path to the Everest Base Camp. This 30-day adventure begins in Kathmandu, where you'll explore the city's UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Following that, you'll fly to Lukla and commence your trek. The trek takes you along the iconic Everest trail before you set your sights on ascending Ama Dablam.
The standard route to the summit of Ama Dablam follows the South-Western Ridge, the same path taken by the first ascenders in 1961. This route offers a challenging yet sustained climb, with varying levels of difficulty. Three high camps are established at strategic locations along the way. The ascent is moderate up to Camp 1, and then it becomes more challenging as you navigate the narrow granite ridge. Beyond Camp 2, you'll encounter steep ice and snow slopes, making the climb increasingly technical. From Camp 3, you'll skirt around the hanging glacier or the Dablam, cross a snow arête (a sharp ridge), negotiate bergschrunds (gaps or crevasses at the edge) between ice cliffs, and ultimately conquer the summit. After reaching the summit, you'll make your way back to the base camp. This expedition promises a remarkable and technically demanding climbing experience in one of the world's most spectacular mountain settings.
