Today's journey begins with an early departure for Sotikhola. As we drive, we are treated to panoramic views of the Nepalese countryside, complemented by glimpses of towering mountain scenery. The initial leg of the drive takes us along a paved road from Kathmandu to Dhading Bensi, the district headquarters of Dhading, situated at an elevation of 1050 meters. From Dhading Bensi, our route continues on a more challenging, rough road as we head towards Arughat, a significant town in the region. Finally, we continue the drive from Arughat to Sotikhola, advancing further into the heart of our trekking adventure.

After crossing the bridge, our trek takes us through enchanting Sal forests, and we ascend to a ridge offering breathtaking views of the expansive rapids of the Budhi Gandaki. Continuing our journey, we arrive at Khursane, where the rocky trail undulates, navigating through the terrain. Along this path, we encounter two impressive tropical waterfalls, with the trail often hugging the side of a cliff. The route descends to pass by rice terraces, followed by an ascent that leads us to the Gurung village of Labubesi. Climbing behind a rocky outcrop, the valley unfolds, revealing the meandering Budhi Gandaki amid wide gravel bars. Descending to the sandy riverbed, we traverse rounded stones before ascending over a side ridge. Crossing another suspension bridge, we reach the village of Machha Khola, nestled along the river.

Beyond the hot spring, we ascend another ridge and cross the Budhi Gandaki via a suspension bridge. A well-crafted staircase takes us up, and we traverse a landslide before reaching Dobhan. Crossing the Yaru Khola on a suspension bridge, we ascend stone stairs, drop to the river, climb more stairs to Tharo Bharyang, and cross the west bank of the Budhi Gandaki. Climbing over a ridge and trekking along the river, we ascend towards the village of Jagat.

Following the upstream trail, we cross a long suspension bridge in Philim, a sizable Gurung village. Heading north above the lowest house, the trail remains relatively level, cutting through millet fields to Ekle Bhatti. The path takes a steep turn into an uninhabited gorge. Descending to grassy slopes, we cross the Budhi Gandaki, trek along the west bank, cross to the east bank, and repeat. As we proceed, passing through bamboo forests, we eventually reach the Deng Khola, and after crossing it, we arrive at the small village of Deng.

Passing through forests and mani, we turn toward a corner that contours to Ghap. Opting for the route through Prok village, which offers a viewpoint of the scenic Siringi Himal, we cross the Budhi Gandaki multiple times. The trail leads us upstream through a dense forest, with several gompas along the way. After crossing the river at an impressive spot where it cascades down a narrow gorge, the forest thins, and the trail improves. The pleasant walk continues, and after a final steep climb, we reach Namrung.

Sherpa women in traditional attire and ornaments add to the cultural experience. A short hike to a nearby hill reveals the ancient Pungyen Gompa, offering panoramic views of the glacier named after Manaslu. For further acclimatization, an alternative option is a brief excursion to the picturesque Birendra Taal Lake. This day allows trekkers to adapt to the altitude and immerse themselves in the local culture and natural beauty.

Our trek commences after breakfast, embarking on a steep trail from Samagaon. Initially winding through a forest, the path gradually reveals the steep slope above Samagaon, situated northwards of the Manaslu Glacier. As we ascend, the landscape transforms into a breathtaking spectacle, with the glacier nearby and a turquoise lake beneath. The final stretch of the trek involves navigating the steepest section on a narrow moraine trail, which can be slippery. After approximately 4-5 hours, we reach the base camp, where we relish the beauty of the surroundings before retracing our steps, a journey that takes about 3 hours.

The 25-day climbing itinerary towards Mt. Manaslu involves establishing tented camps at various elevations. The climbing leader plays a crucial role in determining the summit climbing duration, considering factors such as weather conditions and the need for acclimatization at different altitudes. Acclimatization days are dedicated to extensive hikes, ascending to high camps, and returning to lower altitudes for rest. This strategic approach enhances the team's adaptation to the changing conditions. After more than three weeks of challenging climbs and a triumphant summit of Mt. Manaslu, the entire climbing team descends to the base camp, where they rest and celebrate their achievement.

Following breakfast in the tent, the descent from the Mt. Manaslu base camp involves retracing the same path taken to reach the base camp from Samagaon. Despite the slippery terrain, descending is a quicker process. The journey downhill treats trekkers to breathtaking views of the glacier and the turquoise lake. As altitude is gradually lost, the trail passes through forests, leading to the return to Samagaon. This descent typically takes around 3 hours, allowing trekkers to appreciate the surroundings they ascended and celebrate their achievements on the majestic Mt. Manaslu.

Descending from Samagaon, we make our way to the Budhi Gandaki River, now flowing north, and follow it until we reach a bridge over a side stream. There's a trail to the left leading to the Manaslu Base Camp. The Larkya la Trail takes us along the widening valley, passing mani walls and offering easy terrain on a shelf above the river. We traverse through the juniper and birch forests of Kermo Kharka. Upon descending from the shelf, we cross the Budhi Gandaki using a wooden bridge and climb steeply onto a promontory between two river forks. A large white kani and a stone arch mark our entry into Samdo.

Continuing our descent, we cross a wooden bridge over the Budhi Gandaki and start ascending. After crossing two streams and catching sight of the Larkya Glacier, we navigate around the Salka Khola valley and ascend once more to reach the stone guest house at 4450 meters. This location is not a typical lodge but a shelter known as Dharmshala or Larke Phedi. Today's relatively short walk allows ample time for acclimatization and relaxation in the afternoon.

After a short climb, we enter a valley on the north side of the Larkya Glaciers, offering splendid views of Cho Danda and Larkya Peak. Our journey then takes us across the moraines of the glacier, involving a gradual ascent that steepens only in the final section leading to the pass. From Larkya La, there are outstanding vistas of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kangguru, and the enormous Annapurna II. Although the trek to Bimtang today is longer than usual, the reward is immense as we walk into the low pastures with the evening mist settling in, accompanied by the close presence of Mt. Manaslu—an overwhelming experience.

From the ridge at Bimthang, a magnificent panorama unfolds. The descent takes us through Sangure Kharka, a high pasture, and over a bridge spanning Dudh Khola. Wandering through a rhododendron forest, we traverse a narrow valley until reaching Karche, the highest cultivated land in the valley at 2785 meters. Crossing fields, we climb steeply over a ridge, and the trail descends in a broad arc to the river bank at 2580m. A short distance beyond lies Gho village, and although an overnight rest is an option due to yesterday's exertion, Himalayan Glacier recommends staying at Tilije for better lodges.

After breakfast, we ascend a small ridge, enjoying the stone-paved trail as it winds through a picturesque village. Crossing the bridge over Dudh Khola, we climb through a chorten-shaped arch, pass a mani wall, and reach Thonje village. Here, we go through a police checkpoint, marking our entry into the Annapurna circuit section, and continue to Dharapani. As we proceed, we encounter Karte village, cross a bridge over Marshyangdi Khola, pass by mani walls, and finally reach the village of Tal, nestled at the base of a large waterfall.
